How good it feels to realise that there are still people in Shefford who are proud of their heritage. I refer to the campaign to save the Old Forge.
Against all odds and with very little time Audrey and Cyril White and their supporters rallied round and are now trying to arrange for the removal and storage of the contents,so they can be preserved for the people of Shefford. They are also looking for a permanent home for these items. Anyone who can help in any way please contact Audrey or Cyril on 01462 812083. Lorna and Clark McGregor have taken photographs of the forge and its contents. These are now on the Shefford web site, www.sheffordtown.co.uk. Our grateful thanks go to John and Brenda Ford for allowing the removal of the items from the forge.
Shefford can be quite an attractive little town, particularly since the High Street was improved, but lately the whole area is looking a bit dowdy. This is because of all the litter everywhere. There are bins about but unfortunately people would sooner throw their cans and packets on the ground than put them in a bin. If you cannot find a bin near by please take your litter home with you, don’t leave it for others to clear up!
Now that the warmer weather is on its way why not get out and about and enjoy the local walks, for those of you who are new to the area there is a set of walks leaflets available from the Library and other local outlets.
Enjoy the Summer!
Regards,
Jennifer
