STOP PRESS!
ST PETERSBURG, RUSSIA COMES TO SHEFFORD

'LYRA' is a vocal ensemble from St. Petersburg and last year they toured the UK.
A few of us from St Michael's Church, Shefford, attended the concert in Potton.
The singing was magnificent. We were so impressed and moved that, on learning that 'LYRA' intends to carry out a follow-up tour this year, we asked that Shefford might be included. To our delight, 'LYRA' has accepted our invitation.
The singers are all professional musicians based at the famous St Petersburg Academy of Music.
As soloists and as an Ensemble they regularly appear in the Churches, Theatres and Opera House of the City. Their aim, through the programme, is to introduce us to the enormous musical heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church as well as the traditions of Russian folk music.
This unmissable event will be held at:
St.Michael & All Angels Church, Shefford, 7.45pm Thursday 24th February 2005

Box office:
Rev John Harper, tel. 01462 813334 jharper@ukgateway.net
Stuart Brayne, tel. 01462 815689 sbrayne@waitrose.com
All proceeds to the St Michael's Roof Restoration and Development Projects.

MID BEDS ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY

The Mid-Beds Alzheimer's society has run a Carers group in Shefford for the past three years. The group is for anyone who is caring or has cared for someone with dementia.
We have a varied programme looking at both the issues of caring for someone with dementia and completely unrelated topics which provide a total break from caring. The events already organised for 2005 are:-

Feb 17th - Fire Safety, speaker Chris James
March 17th - Chocolate Indulgence
April 21st - Falls, speaker Jackie Golding
May 19th - Seasonal Reminiscense

All meetings are held in the Town Meeting Room on the third Thursday of each month between 11am and 12.30pm.
In Mid Beds there are two Carers Support Workers who would be happy to visit you at home and discuss events mentioned or give information and support. There are also several coffee and chat sessions held at various locations in Mid Beds which give the opportunity to meet other carers informally and provide a social break.
If you would like to find out more, please contact Sally or Anita on 01525 841472. There is always an answer phone available, so please leave a message and we will ring you back.
