Editorial
Welcome to those of you who are new to Shefford or who are reading Newsline for the first time. With all the new houses going up in Shefford of late, there are many new families moving into the area who may not know what goes on in Shefford. This is also a reminder for those of us who may have forgotten what is available.
Some of the groups and organisations advertise their regular meetings and venues in this magazine, any other organisations wishing to do so are welcome to contact me.
There are also community events such as the Summer Fayre, Craft and Produce Show, Fireworks, Christmas Lights and the Pram Race as well as the regular fund raising events run by various smaller organisations. The organisers are always looking for extra help and fresh ideas. If you are interested in helping with environmental work, the Millennium Green Team and P3 Group are seeking volunteers for practical work and fundraising for those who are less active but would like to get involved. Contacts for these groups can be found inside the magazine.
The Firework Committee have started their annual fundraising events which will culminate in another spectacular display on the 3rd November. People converge upon Shefford from miles around to attend the magnificent display
At the time of writing the long awaited bridge connecting the Millennium Green to the Rights of Way Network is being installed. The Town Council and the P3 Group are already pushing the County Council to upgrade the path from South Bridge to the Millennium Green to establish easier access.
Shefford is a lovely, friendly place in which to live and the people of Shefford wish to retain and maintain as much green space as possible for the enjoyment of residents. I would implore the few thoughtless people who drop litter or allow their dogs to foul the footpaths or open spaces to think of others. If a bin is unavailable take your litter home, don't leave it to rot or for children to play with, it is health hazard. If you know of an appropriate area that needs a litter bin or dog bin, please contact the Town Council now and it will see what can be done. Let's make Shefford known for its cleanliness and tidiness, I know this only affects a few but it does make a difference to all our lives.
I hope you enjoy this edition of Newsline, I would be pleased to receive any comments you may have.
Regards,
Jennifer
