Just a quick reminder to you all, that the Craft and Produce Show will be held on Saturday, l2th September in the Methodist School Room. If you don't wish to enter anything in the show, why not go along to see what others have done and support the hard work of those who have made the event possible. Who knows it could inspire you to enter next year!
I would like to welcome PC. Clinton Blackburn to Shefford. He joined us in August as our new Community Beat Manager. I understand that he will continue to hold surgeries in the town so look out for details. Several people have expressed their appreciation of this service as it gives them the opportunity to get to meet and talk to an officer who has a special interest in the area.
It is good to see that the new extension to Somerfield is at last underway, we can now look forward to its completion next year. There was a mixed reception by residents to the Tesco proposal to move into Shefford. We await the outcome of this with interest.
I was approached by a member of the public who had found a mini-bus service into Bedford which she previously didn't know existed. Could I mention it in case other people might like to use it. The service is the X82 which started on 10th January, 1996. It runs on Wednesday only, linking Lower Stondon and Campton to Bedford for Market-day shopping. The service starts in Bedford and goes out to the villages, returning to Shefford at 10.47am to pick up passengers, then goes to Bedford via Wilstead and Elstow. The return journey leaves Bedford at 13.30pm. Bus passes are accepted. If you are fed up with the usual journey into Bedford why not try this route for a change.
