Editorial
Our cover photograph was taken at the recent 10th Anniversary celebration of the opening of the Shefford Library What a good turn out from members of the public for the occasion. During the past ten years the library has become a vital communications link within the community. Apart from the usual library services, numerous exhibitions are housed over the course of a year, ranging from local group activities to community issues. As a focal point of the local community and surrounding villages, people 'pop in' to the library and use it as a meeting place or to just sit and read the newspapers and magazines provided. It is also 'home' to the local Action Point service, which is well used.
The vital ingredient in making the library so successful is the warmth and friendliness of the staff combined with their knowledge and expertise.
Congratulations Jane and the team, we all look forward to celebrating your next ten years!
It is still not too late to register your interest in a village care scheme for Shefford as mentioned in the last issue of Newsline. Some interest has been shown but more is needed if the project is to be pursued.
It looks likely that at the last minute a new leader has been found for the cubs Blue Pack. I am sure this will be a great relief to Thelma Martin who retired from the post in April. Thanks go to Thelma for all her hard work over the years.
Don't forget the Shefford Summer Fayre to be held in June. Preparations are will advanced and I hope many of you will take the time to support this community event as the proceeds go to support the 'lights' that adorn the town centre at Christmas.
Finally a timely reminder for you now that we are approaching summer, please make sure that garages and sheds are kept locked and to secure all door and windows when you leave the house. Don't give the opportunist thief access to your property!

Best wishes
Jennifer
