EDITORIAL
With this magazine you will receive a "Property Marking Pack" with explanatory leaflet on how to security mark your valuables. Also included is a window notice warning would be burglars that your property is marked. This notice will be matched with signs at every entry road to the Town. Shefford Town Council is working in conjunction with our local policing team in Shefford, particularly our Beat Manager - PC Clinton Blackburn, for this initiative.

The Scheme has been piloted in Shillington and it is hoped that it will be repeated throughout the Mid-Beds Area.

It is very important that the whole town takes part in this initiative to make the project successful. The Town Council would be very grateful if you would take the time to security mark your property and display the window notices now! Remember, the pack also goes through the doors of offenders! Please help to make this project a success. The project is funded by the Town Council and a substantial grant from The Robert Lucas Trust in an attempt to reduce our crime figures and make our town a safer and more secure community in which to live.

Let's hope that the weather will be fine for the many activities that take place in Shefford over the summer months. The most popular is the Gala organised by the Chamber of Trade. There are also smaller organisations which hold their main fundraising events at this time of year, such as the Playgroup and the Lower School, do support them also, they all help towards making Shefford a thriving and nice place to live.
There is also a timely reminder to start thinking about your entries for the Craft and Produce Show in September. Let's all get together to make this the best ever show!

Once again I am going to grumble about dog owners who don't clear up after their pets! Complaints are still being made about dog fouling in various parts of the town, but in particular on the 'Digswell' field. Dog bins are provided at various locations around the town. We are grateful to the vast majority of dog owners who act responsibly Remember it is illegal to allow dogs to foul public places. The maximum penalty is a fine of £1,000!

Finally congratulations to Shefford & District Angling Club who are celebrating their centenary this year. Surely a real success story.

Enjoy the Summer! Jennifer
