I have noticed, now that the days are drawing in, a number of cyclists, both young and older are regularly riding around after lighting up time without their cycle lights on. Not only are they endangering themselves, they are a danger to other road users and pedestrians. Remember see and be seen! On the subject of cyclists, there seems to be an increase in cyclists riding on the pavements. This is an offence and a danger to pedestrians, so please spare a thought for them before indulging in this dangerous practice.
The latest Mid Beds District Council Arts Events leaflet, packed full of things to see and do in Mid Beds, is now available at libraries, council offices and various venues across the district. Whatever your interests are, take a look, there could be something for your enjoyment during the darkness of winter.
On a brighter note, we are fast heading towards the time of year when Shefford really does get lit up! The Shefford Christmas Lights Committee are gearing up to cheer us over the festive season with another magnificent lights display in the town. This is achieved by a small group of volunteers, who give up their free time. The lights are paid for by fundraising, grants and donations. Their last fundraising event before the big night, a Quiz Night, will be held at the STMA (Digswell) off Hitchin Road, on 22nd November at 7.30pm for 8pm start. Do go along and join in the fun if you can.
The display is always a credit to the town, with people travelling from miles around to see what many believe to be the best small town display in the area.
Our thanks go to the organisers for all their hard work. Please support their efforts by coming along to the Christmas Lights Switch On - Friday, 6th December. The fun starts at 6.30pm with entertainment - outside Lloyds Chemist in the High Street. I look forward to seeing you there.
Wishing you all,
A MERRY CHRISTMAS and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
Regards,
Jennifer
